May 2017 will mark the 6th East Coast Culinary Competition (ECCC) hosted by Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort. This world-class event features the brightest and best culinary talent from across the country.
The event has grown to a two-day affair, featuring the salon culinaire, a set of practical and display based competitions that test the skills of professional chefs around the world. Also a growing part of the event is an exhibition from commercial suppliers of gourmet food. The always-popular cocktail competition will also be taking place this year.
Every year the event has been open to the public, and Fujairah residents have a wonderful opportunity of front row seats to some world-class demonstrations of culinary skill. Some events take place live, as well as displays prepared earlier that will be judged by highly ranked world chefs, spread across the Al Farha Ballroom at Miramar Al Aqah.
There are chefs of all rankings competing for bronze, silver and gold medals in categories ranging from elaborate wedding cake designs to full meals, to themed canapés and edible arrangements. This is an opportunity for chefs to really show off their skills to their superiors, the public, and their fellow competitors.
This year also will be the first year the event has officially been endorsed by the World Association of Chefs Societies as a World Chef Office Approved Competition.
It is expected that over 200 Executive Chefs, General Managers, Food & Beverage Managers and Directors, and key decision makers will be in attendance- not only supporting their own talent, but also looking at future potential. The event also features many suppliers exhibiting their goods and representing their companies to the East Coast buyers.
Attendance is expected to exceed 1000 people over the course of the two days with more than 400 chefs competing with the majority being from around the UAE.
Emirates Culinary Guild (ECG) is the official backing host of the event, and is UAE’s association of professional chef: a not-for-profit organization dedicated solely to the advancement of the culinary art of the UAE. The driving force of the event, however, is Executive Chef of Miramar Al Aqah Chef K A S Prasad- also the East Coast vice president of ECG.
