His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi (b.25th May 1948) is a Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, having succeeded his father His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi in 1974. HH Sheikh Hamad is married to Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Thani Al Maktoum from the ruling family of Dubai.
They have six children - three boys and three girls.
The eldest son, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed (b.1986) was appointed the Crown Prince of Fujairah on the 8th of January 2007 and graduated from Webster University, London.
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad is married to the daughter of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai - Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed Al Maktoum. They currently have two children, HH Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi (2009) and HH Sheikha Aysha bint Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi (2011)
His Highness Sheikh Rashid (b.1987) who is Chairman of the Media Department of Fujairah and President of Fujairah Country Club & Tennis Stadium, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Webster University in London on the 10th May 2009.
Youngest son, His Highness Sheikh Maktoum (b.1991) graduated on the 12th August 2011 from England’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS). HH Sheikh Maktoum is known for his sporting passion and sponsors the Maktoum Championships - an annual sporting event that is one of the biggest tournaments in the UAE.
The girls are Her Highnesses Sheikha Sarah, (b.1985) Sheikha Shamsa, (b.1988) and Sheikha Madiyah, (b.1989).
Educated in Britain, Sheikh Hamad is a progressive ruler, and his reformist leanings have held him in good stead with businessmen and expatriates alike. He attended the Mons Military Academy in 1970 and from 1971-74 served as Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries.
