February was celebration time in Fujairah. The entire Emirate drew together to join in the festivities that marked the royal wedding of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah to the daughter of Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

VIPs, celebrities, music, spectacular fireworks, gourmet food prepared by the top chefs of the region – the royal wedding celebrations began on February 9th and lasted an entire week.

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, attended a lunch banquet hosted by His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah. Sheikh Khalifa was received upon his arrival by Sheikh Mohammad, Sheikh Hamad and other Sheikhs. He congratulated them on the happy occasion.

The wedding was also attended by Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members, Rulers of the Emirates, Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla of Umm Al Quwain and Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi of Ajman. Also present were Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince. The joyful celebrations were attended by Crown Princes and Deputy Rulers of the other Emirates, a number of Sheikhs, chairmen of federal and local departments, senior officials, dignitaries and a crowd of citizens.

Food was served on a daily basis in the wedding tents for anyone who cared to join in the festivities. After the traditional music and dancing was over, the guests and the royal family made their way to the glamorous tents to feast. Renowned male and female Arab singers performed and JAL Resort and Spa had the privilege of catering for the top VIP table.

It was truly a week to remember as locals and Expats gathered in the tents set up for the wedding to feast and rejoice It was a wedding that had no limited invitations, truly a spectacular wedding to remember!
