The Fujairah Youth Training Centre team returned after successfully participating in the recent World Formula Future Championships held in Hungary from 9th to 13th August 2017.

The Fujairah team was the first ever Arabian team to participate in the World Formula Future Championships in youth powerboat event. They stood 6th and 8th out of 20 teams.

We consider this participation a constructive experience for the team.

The experience and knowledge they gained in their first international event will motivate them and develop confidence.

This in turn will help them prepare and boost the chances for gold medals in the next world championship organized by Fujairah International Marine Club 2018.

This event came about by the continue efforts of Fujairah International Marine Club (FIMC) who have developed their youth training program and centre.

Under the stewardship of Major Ahmed Ibrahim Darak, managing director of FIMC, the program and the purpose-built learning centre, children under age 15 are taught everything they need to know about handling motorized boats and the customs of seafaring.

The applicants are instructed on a variety of relevant subjects such as safety, the environment, boat parts, engines and how to tie different kinds of boat knots.

Already two batches of children have graduated and from these batches the first Arab team was selected with six boys and one girl participating.

Major Ahmed Ibrahim has always stated the importance of teaching respect for the marine environment to the next generation, and respect for safety guidelines. As important as it is to people doing any marine activity, it is vital to the creation of world-class marine sports competitors.

What is wonderful about the youth program is available to both boys and girls aged  8 - 14 years. The program is also open to all nationalities. There is a minimal charge for some clothing items but it is a great opportunity and something unique in the region.

The centre currently employs three instructors and four supervisors, with plans to expand. All children are carefully supervised at all times for safety reasons, as well as instructed to standards expected by the next generation of marine sports enthusiasts.

The principal aims of the program are establishing a solid educational foundation for boating and marine sports in general, as well as specialist training for powerboating.

For many years, FIMC and Fujairah have been the host venue of the first round of the UIM XCAT World Series. The Youth Marine Centre will allow young people in the region to develop their appreciation for such competitions. It sets to inspire the next generation of competitors.

The FIMC academy will launch some new programs when the summer heat subsides; sailing (all types), kayaking, swimming and diving..

Visit the FIMC or telephone (971) 9 2221166 to find out more about the upcoming courses.
