Le Méridien Al Aqah in conjunction with the Fujairah Tennis & Country Club (FTCC) produced a “fantastic day out”, for families and visitors with an array of activities, entertainment and dining options with all proceeds going to a local charities.
The event helped to raise money for several chosen charities - Dibba Al-Fujairah Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled, Rising Sun, The Angel Appeal and UNICEF.
Speaking at the event Patrick Antaki, Complex Manager said “The Fun Day brings a ‘village fete’ type atmosphere to the East Coast with a variety of indoor and outdoor events. We want to celebrate with the UAE community, as well as our loyal patrons from the region and overseas.”
The ever popular “fish & chips” and “delicious dosas” were part of an extensive selection of cuisine on offer throughout the day at food and beverage counter, which were set up around the club’s parking area.
There was a great variety of stalls selling items ranging from spicy green salsa to camel soap and unique handicrafts. Also on display was some striking artwork of the new Fujairah mosque, painted and sketched by Romainian artist Leontin Leonte.
The day’s activities had something for every age group including head and foot express spa treatments from Le Meridien Al Aqah and their value for money hotel surplus stall.
Al Sharq Hospital set up a medical clinic so the public could take the opportunity to learn health essentials such as basic blood pressure taking, body composition analysis.
Other attractions included a bouncy castle, a bouncy slide and bull bucking for the kids and the annual of tug-of-war, a spaghetti and watermelon eating contest, cake-baking and just lots of fun for the whole family.
The day ended with the now legendary “Grand Raffle”. Once again our sponsors were incredible generous with an enormous amount of prizes donated with the top prize a Flight to Anywhere courtesy of Emirates Group which was won by Talar Sabbatucci accompanied by Gian Marco.
Now in its tenth year, the Al Aqah Fun Day has seen attendance figures grow since it began in 2005, and it has become a great chance to meet with other families and enjoy some fun activities and to help raise funds for some good causes!
A BIG thank you to all the sponsors, and the crew who made the event possible, and of course thank you to everyone who came along to make the day an absolute success! FTCC will announce the total money raised for charity at a later date.
