Group planning new studios to develop TV & Cinema Production facilities in Fujairah

Fujairah Media Group (FMG), the Fujairah-based Broadcasting Corporation formed as a joint venture between the Fujairah Cultural and Media Authority and Arab International Media Services, plans to launch at least two more new radio stations as part of its expansion plans for 2011.

FMG has already recently (January 2011) acquired a stake in Virgin Radio Arabia in Jordan and is handling the complete day to day management of the operations as it continues to build on its international radio broadcasting lineup. Fujairah Media manages a Free Zone in Fujairah known as Creative City, a media management and technology cluster that features dedicated zones for Audio Visual, Publishing, Training, Theatrical Arts, Design and Graphics, Technology and IT, and Cinema. The Group also offers broadcasting services via Arabsat and Nilesat on its transponder prior to the upcoming commencement of Phase 1 of Creative City. It ended 2010 on a strong note by launching a new TV channel (Krazee TV) and unveiled a reformatted 92.6 ‘FM’ Radio – formerly known as Fujairah FM Radio – late in the year.

Fujairah Media is building new studios to develop TV and cinema production in Fujairah as well to sustain the momentum of its network buildup through 2011.
“Over the past years we have been carefully plotting out the components of Creative City, and 2010 was an opportunity for us to roll out some of its major offerings such as Krazee TV and 92.6 ‘FM” radio. In 2011 we will see more key pieces fall into place to establish our Group as a highly respected member of the Middle East’s rapidly growing media industry. We also look forward to further highlighting Fujairah’s business potential especially in new markets of which Africa is our main focus,” said Mekki Abdulla, CEO, Fujairah Media Group.

Creative City, the flagship project of Fujairah Media, was established by the Royal Decree of H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah and member of the Supreme Council. It joins Television and Radio Broadcasting as Fujairah Media’s three core business parts. Fujairah Media aims to tap its network to complement the region’s existing media clusters and promote freelance and corporate creativity in various specialties ranging from training and media production to media services and technology.

More recently Fujairah Media signed a Protocol with Khartoum State, the Capital of the Sudan, to jointly develop a new business park to be known as SMART CITY, which will also offer businesses an ideal environment working in Technology, Media, Production, R&D, and New Energy. The park will be developed on a 1 million square foot land on the east banks of the Blue Nile in Khartoum, and will include a 5 star hotel and Arabian Cinema Complex similar to the one under construction in Fujairah City.
