The Department of Public Works and Agriculture in Fujairah has recently begun restoration work on the roads, and surrounding ground surfaces, in the new industrial zone in Al-Hail.

The ground laying is in preparation for the handing-over of the area to the Federal Electricity and Water Authority to complete the supply of electricity to the new industrial zone in Al-Hail.

This is part of Fujairah Municipality’s effort to complete the relocation of the industrial area from its current, prime city-centre, location to the suberb of Al-Hail.

The municipality had previously threatened to cut power supply to the current industrial area if business owners did not relocate to Al-Hail, but the delay in supplying power to the new location has put on hold any talk of such punitive measures.

Salim Mohammed Ali Al-Mukasah, Director of the Department of Public Works and Agriculture, Government of Fujairah, said a team of engineers from the department began last week the levelling of low-lying ground surfaces and servicing of roads in the new industrial area in Al-Hail.

Al-Kukasah said the work is expected to be completed within two months from now before it will be handed over to the Federal Electricity and Water Authority to extend electrical power cables.

Meanwhile, Al-Mukasah also addressed complaints from residents calling for the paving of inner-roads in some neighbourhoods in Fujairah city and surrounding areas.

The Director of the Department of Public Works and Agriculture said the paving of inner-roads will take place as part of stage two of the a wider plan for the refurbishment of the Fujairah road network, which is expected to begin soon after the completion of the new Dubai-Fujairah motorway.

He stated that the plan will see the refurbishment of current roads and paving of inner-roads in areas such as Al-Regeilaat and Al-Fassel in Fujairah city and residential areas in Qidfaa, Merbeh and Qurrayah.
