Social Service Week at Indian School Fujairah

Social Service Week was observed from October 4 to 8th, commemorating the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji, the father of the Indian nation. It was a most memorable event for the students, staff and parents of Indian School Fujairah. The week’s event began with a Special Assembly presided over by Mr.Sulaiman Jumae, Director of Private Education, Fujairah Zone. Speeches on ‘Gandhi Jayanthi’ and ‘Social Awareness’ followed by a melodious rendition of patriotic song were the highlights. Throughout the week there were a lot of thought provoking programmes to inculcate moral values and social awareness among the children.

There was a Cleanliness Campaign wherein students of all grades practically took to tidying up the campus and beautifying the classrooms. The chairman of the school, Mr. Abubaker Al Hashmi and the Principal, Mr. Thomas Abraham visited each and every class, greeted and appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged them to participate whole-heartedly in all the programs.
In addition, there was a Collage Competition for all the students on the topics such as ‘Poverty’ and ‘Freedom Struggle’ and an Arts and Craft competition for all the students of the school on the third day of the week to bring out their innate potentialities and artistry. The students actively took part in this venture, made amazing artifacts and exhibited their awesome skill and talent. There were also Seminars and Quiz competition on the topic ‘Social Awareness” aimed at grooming students to be good citizens upholding social values.
The finale of the Social Service Week held on Thursday the 8th of October was marked by a Food and Fun Fair open to the parents and public. Food Courts served mouthwatering delicacies catering to all sections according to their taste. The Games pavilion held the interest of students and youth who tried their luck testing their skill at various games. There was also a Cultural Extravaganza which made the evening attractively colourful and bright. The School management expressed their sincere gratitude to the parents and well-wishers who made this endeavour a grand success with their co-operation and support of students and teachers during the whole week.
