Ruler of Fujairah inaugurates Al Sharq Hospital

His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of Supreme Council & Ruler of Fujairah, has inaugurated Al Sharq Hospital, owned by Al Sharq Healthcare, a member of the Fujairah National Group (FNG). 


The inauguration ceremony was attended by HH Sheikh Saleh bin Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Department of Industry and Economy, Fujairah Government, Chairman of FNG. The ceremony was also attended by HH Dr. Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Sharqi Chairman of the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority (FCMA), HH Hamad bin Saleh Al Sharqi, Vice-Chairman of FNG, President of Al Sharq Healthcare. 


The AED300 million Hospital was equipped with state of the art medical equipment and includes five operating rooms and five ICU beds, as well as trauma centre that is fitted with a small operating room that is capable of handling emergency situations. In addition, the Hospital had received international accreditation to test pilots and divers. 


Following the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, Dr Abdel Hamid Senan, General Manager of the Al Sharq Hospital, escorted the high-level delegations through the various Hospital sections and introduced them to the modern medical equipments in the new facilities. 


Commenting on the launch of the Hospital, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Saleh Al Sharqi, Chairman of FNG, said: “Al Sharq Hospital marks a pivotal step in the development of FNG, which already successfully owns and operated a number of medical facilities. The Hospital fulfills the Company’s growth aspirations and is set to raise the bar of healthcare services provided in Fujairah, the eastern coast and the UAE in general. We have equipped the AED300 million hospital with some of the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies in the world.” 


His Highness added that FNG had installed the latest diagnostics technologies in the Hospital, including a highly sophisticated open X-ray machine, the third of its kind in the UAE, and a cutting-edge CT scanner (256 Slides), the second one in the country. 


His Highness indicated that FNG had become the first company in the UAE to receive a standard score across all its current and future facilities. He added that FNG continuously seeks to further enhance levels of healthcare services it provides and keep up with the latest technologies used in advanced countries. 


Regarding human capital, His Highness indicated that FNG has worked hard to attract highly qualified Arab staff working in the United States and Europe. FNG also plans to boost medical tourism in the country, by coordinating with relevant government authorities and hotels located in the Emirate. 


According to Sheikh Hamad, FNG has worked hard over the past years to support  government efforts to drive Emiratisation in the private sector, as Emiratis make up 70% of the Company’s and its facilities’ management. His Highness added that Emirati women have held a large number of managerial positions in the Company for several years, whom now hold large practical experiences in managing medical facilities. 


During his welcome speech, Dr Abdel Hamid Senan, General Manager of the Al Sharq Hospital, thanks His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, for his support, which will act as a catalyst to motivate the Hospital’s employees to work with a higher level of dedication to fulfill their duties and accomplish His Highness’ vision of providing the community with highest level of healthcare services. 

Dr Senan added that Al Sharq Hospital has five operating rooms equipped with latest devices to handle all types of surgeries, in addition to advance telecommunications equipment, in order to confer effectively with international experts in the healthcare industry increase treatment efficiency, without having to host them in country. 


Dr Senan added that Al Sharq Hospital’s trauma centre is fitted with a small operating room in order to provide necessary surgical intervention with high speed, in addition to an around the clock medical emergency service. Moreover, the Hospital uses SAAB Patient Management System, as well as an electronic charting system that links all of the Company’s facilities, which enables FNG to provide comprehensive and continuous serves. 


During the ceremony, by His Highness Sheikh Saleh bin Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Department of Industry and Economy, recognized the efforts made by a number of people whom were key in the launch of Al Sharq Hospital as one of the most advance medical facilities in the UAE. 


Also during the event, the FNG launched a special smart phone app that enables Hospital visitors to book appointments and make suggestions and inquiries using their smart phones.
