UN Day Celebration at Our Own English High School Fujairah

Our Own English High School Fujairah marked the United Nations Day with a special Assembly. The theme of this year’s celebration was ‘United in responsibility to share and care’. The event witnessed the participation of large number of parents. UN Day marks the anniversary of the formal establishment of United Nations after a majority of its founding members ratified the Charter setting up the world body. 

 

UN Day Special Assembly

The eventful Special Assembly conducted under the aegis of Social Studies Department to celebrate the UN Day. Principal Himmat Singh Dhillon and Parents advisory board president Neelam Nandekar inaugurated the celebration by cutting the UN birthday cake in the presence of Head Master Haroon Ahmed, Senior supervisors Ms. Mercy Jacob, Mr. Tamoghna Chakraborty, Arabic Supervisor Samiha Hamouda, Teaching and learning Supervisor Ms. Raman Jeet Dhillon, S.St. H.O.D Ms. Rajyalakshmi, UN Day Coordinators Mr. Duglas Joseph,  Ms. Selin Baby, Mr. Satendra Verma and Ms. Mubashira Hassan, Ms. Alpana, Ms.Waffa and  Ms. Doa, Ms. Christy and Mr. Alex and parents.

 

In his address, Mr. Himmat stated that the community of Our Own High School Fujairah, stands committed to the values promoted by the UN and to the UAE National Agenda. He stated that the message of UN is relevant in our contemporary world.

 

A skit titled ‘All over the world’ staged by the senior students featured a culinary competition where contestants from different countries exhibited their delicacies. However, the decision of judges surprised everyone. The judges declared all participants as joint winners because the dishes prepared by them were extremely delicious. The skit gives glimpses of the cultural diversities of our world.

 

Thirty nine students belong to different nationalities of Our Own School dressed in their ethnic costumes  paraded to showcase the cultural variety of our world and propounded  the message of unity in diversity. The students wearing ethnic dress carrying respective national flags gave a panoramic view. 

 

Senior management team along with parents released doves symbolising peace and harmony. The ceremony envisages Hope, Peace and Promise of bright future percolated in the young minds.

 

The UN Day celebration was organised by the Social Studies department spearheaded by Ms. Mercy Jacob, Rajyalakshmi, Duglas Joseph, Satendra Verma, Selin Baby, Mubshira Hassan, Alpana, Waffa and Doa.
