Following on from the tremendous success in its first season, the National School League (NSL) Football has announced its expansion plans to include pools in Fujairah and Al Ain. The NSL competition, for Under 14 and Under 16 school children across the UAE, is a leading competition in the country to develop talent for UAE’s top footballers.
Under 14 and Under 16 boys will compete against opposition schools in their own emirate each Saturday from October 22nd till November 12th. After which the top 2 teams from each pool will play-off in the finals series on November 19th and 26th against teams from opposing Emirates, to determine the top school football team in the UAE.
The competition is free for schools to enter, and all players and coaches will receive a kit and playing at the best facilities across the country. It is an 8-a-side competition for boys organised by Sport360, with all matches played on grass and officiated by the country’s top referees.
The league will feature the top 50 schools in both U14 and U16, and will be played over 5 geographical groups Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah & Northern Emirates, Al Ain and Fujairah.
The NSL is keen to unearth the talent of young footballers in the Fujairah region, the region has previously been starved of opportunities for many of its young talented footballers to develop their football and showcase their talents on the national stage. After a strong performance by St Mary’s Fujairah in last years competition, who were travelling to Sevens Stadium in Dubai each weekend, the league has decide to open a Fujairah pool, where all Fujairah teams will be able to play all group matches in Fujairah.
Preliminary registrations are now open for all schools, so be sure to book your school in before spots remain. Please visit http://nsl-football.sport360.com/ to view all the photos and video highlights from the 2015/16 season.
