On December 14th 2011, Le Méridien Al Aqah was transformed into a playground of fun and excitement for the 7th Al Aqah Fun Day, a fantastic day out for all the family offering a variety of action packed games, activities and events for children and adults alike.
The fabulous day out attracted both young and old from the local area and across the UAE, who enjoyed a wide range of fun events throughout the day starting at 12 noon and continuing until sunset.
The aim of the day was to not only bring families closer together but also to raise awareness and funds for charity. This year all proceeds from ticket sales and raffle sales will go to the Angel Appeal and Starwood’s Road to Awareness campaign.
Various fun rides were available for children with the army, ambulance, fire and police services also in attendance. Boys and girls football tournaments, a cake competition, tug-of-war and watermelon, hot dog and pasta- eating contests attracted the crowd’s attention, while the hotel’s animation team and a local band provided lively entertainment throughout the day.

Kids activities also included a bouncy castle, rodeo bull, face painting stations, not to mention the dunk tank, which was hugely popular. In fact Patrick Antaki, general manager, was a super good sport and took the plunge for charity as the evening came to a close.
The Fun Day brought a ‘village fete’ type atmosphere to the East Coast with a selection of stalls offering everything from crafts and cosmetics to calligraphic artwork and books. A raffle was drawn towards the end of the day and enthusiastic participants were given the opportunity to win airline tickets, hotel accommodation at world-renowned Starwood properties and the bumper prize---a Volvo used car.
