Earth Hour 2014 at the Hilton Fujairah Resort

Earth Hour 2014, is not just about switching off the lights for one hour. The Earth Hour should remind us, that we have to take care of our Nature and its resources. 

 

The Team of the Hilton Fujairah Resort wanted to bring its guests back to Nature. Our guests should feel how beautiful it is to sit under the stars without electricity and artificial light sources. Therefore we closed our outlets, including the All-day-dining Restaurant in the evening and prepared a huge candle-light-dinner in the pool garden attended with live acoustic music from the piano and the sound of the Indian Ocean.

 

Apart from switching off the lights in all areas of the hotel, we closed the gym, steam room, sauna and pool. The pool was decorated with hundreds of floating candles and lanterns around it. In the garden we prepared a huge “60+” sign built out of small lanterns, to remind the people about the history of the Earth Hour.

 

Exactly at 08.30pm, the lights in all public areas were switched off with a giant symbolic switch. In a speech addressing the guests and Team, Oliver Kesseler, the General Manager at the Hilton Fujairah, announced that by July 2014, the hotel will replace all of the existing lighting across the property and guestroom to energy-efficient lighting. 

 

To celebrate the end of the earth hour we invited all of our guests to send their wishes with Japanese flying lanterns into the sky.

 

All the guest and kids were excited and impressed by the Blue Energy spirit displayed by our Team, who did a great job this evening to show the world how much the Hilton Fujairah Resort cares about its Nature.
