The first day of the tournament resulted in over 100 Dorados (Mahi Mahi), several large Barracuda, one Yellow Fin Tuna, several Amberjack - with one of the Amberjacks ending up being the heaviest fish of the tournament, a large fish that weighed 26kilos caught by Team Hot Rod. Although no billfish was caught on day one, there was one Marlin and three Sailfish hooked and lost. That made the teams work harder for billfish on Day 2.
On day 2, the billfish chances were presented to many teams. There were 7 Marlin raised with 3 hookups, but all lost. There were 12 Sailfish hookups with 1 Sailfish successfully released by Ocean Active. Another Yellow Fin Tuna was weighed (heaviest of the tournament at 11 kilos), many more Dorados (Mahi Mahi) and several Barracudas and two Rainbow Runners.
Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi, along with Major Ahmed Ebrahiem, Managing Director of Fujairah International Marine Club, and Mr. Kareem Derbas, CEO of Palma Holding distributed many gifts to the top 5 teams, in addition to prizes and awards for the Biggest Mahi, Biggest Tuna, Biggest Amberjack, Best Lady Angler and Best Junior Angler.
And because one of the main objectives of this tournament was to help those in need, the fishes caught were sold and the money collected was donated to the Emirates Red Crescent - Fujairah after the amount was multiplied by Palma Holding, the main sponsor of the tournament.
