Fujairah win the bid in Monaco

Fujairah has won the bid to host the 89th UIM General Assembly. This is an additional success to the achievements of UAE Marine Sport Federation and as well as Fujairah International Marine Club. During the last General Assembly meetings, which was held in Monaco. Major Ahmed Ibrahim Mohammed - Vice president of the UAE MSF and Managing director of the Fujairah International Marine Club submitted the Fujairah’s proposal for hosting the 89th General Assembly and Fujairah was selected with the majority of votes.

 

The proposal was based on a very strong infrastructure for the water sport in all UAE and Fujairah.  And also great successful of all events organized by Fujairah International Marine Club during last 15 years. We have been organizing water sports events under coordination of UAE MSF which is led by Mr. Saeed Harib.

 

Finally this will be an another achievement which will be adding to the long journey of successful belonging to UAE Marine Sport. 

 

 

 

About  the Conference

 

The conference started with a welcoming speech by his excellency, Ahmed Ibrahim Mohammed, the General Manager of the Fujairah International Marine Club, in which he introduced his esteemed guests and spoke about Fujairah’s winning bid for the 89th UIM General Assembly. He also thanked his excellency, Doctor Saeed Hareb, the president of the UAE Marine Sports Federation for his presence and continuous efforts in developing water sports. 

 

Dr. Rafael, the President of the UIM then proceeded to give a speech, in which he thanked the United Arab Emirates and the UAE’s Marine Sports Federation and said that he is honoured to be in the UAE.

 

Dr. Rafael also spoke about his special relationship with the UAE’s Marine Sports Federation and its President, His Excellency, Doctor Saeed Hareb, which goes back more than 25 years. He went on to praise the UAE’s achievements and continuous efforts, which have garnered it an esteemed position in the world of water sports. 

 

He also thanked His Excellency, Ahmed Ibrahim Mohammed, the General Manager of the UAE Marine Sports Federation and praised his efforts as the driving force behind Fujairah’s winning bid, taking note of the big names Fujairah was up against, where it eventually managed to win more votes against Norway in the last round of voting. 

 

In his speech, His Excellency, Doctor Saeed Hareb, President of the UAE’s Marine Sports Federation, President of the Dubai International Marine Club and the Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council praised the role of Fujairah’s International Marine club in fostering and solidifying the relationships between various Marine Clubs. He also spoke of how proud and honoured the UAE Marine Sports Federation is at having the Fujairah International Marine Club as an active and functioning member, working under its umbrella, due to its continuous achievements.

 

He went on to thank the President of the Fujairah International Marine Club, His Highness, Sheikh Saif Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi for his efforts and sound advice.

 

His Highness, Sheikh Saif Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi and His Excellency, Dr. Rafael, President of the UIM proceeded to sign the hosting contract of the 89th UIM General Assembly, between the 16th- 233rd of October 2016 – formally recognizing Fujairah as the host city.

 

The conference concluded with the guests offering their greetings and congratulations to His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.

 

About the UIM

The UIM is the world governing body for all Power boating activities. It is fully recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and is a member of the Association of the IOC Recognized International Sports Federations (ARISF) and of Sport Accord for whom the UIM President serves respectively as President and Vice President. The UIM has almost 60 affiliated National Federations. Circuit, Offshore, Pleasure Navigation and Aqua bike are among the main disciplines. The Union International Motonautique is the international governing body of power boating, based in the Principality of Monaco. It was founded in 1922, in Belgium, as the Union International du Yachting Automobile. It has a membership of more than fifty national authorities including.

 

There have been UIM annual General Assembly like any other Federation round the world  with the presence of all its members. In the every general assembly there will be a bidding for hosting next  Assembly.
