HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, opened the industrial Rocks and Building Materials Symposium held in the Layalina Ballroom at Concorde Fujairah Hotel in January.
The symposium together with the accompanying exhibition were held 7th to 9th January and was organised by Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation (FNRC), in cooperation with UAE Ministry of Energy
A large number of authorities, institutions, public and private companies operating in the fields of mining and mineral wealth in the United Arab Emirates and Arab and foreign countries participated.
HH Sheikh Mohammed ensured that the rapid changes taking place in the world today in industrial and urban development refer to the need of mobilizing sectors and coordinating positions and seriously seek to put the best means of investment in mining and industrial rocks, in a way that does not contradict with the demolition of the rules of natural environment. He added that the mineral wealth is very important in meeting the requirements of urban development and engaging in many vital industries for the future. The UAE has wise financial , economic and governmental policies supported by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, based on the implementation of ambitious programs for the overall development and the implementation of open economy policy that rely on market mechanisms. Fujairah is one of the richest areas with viable investment since it has the resources, capabilities, natural and mineral resources, which are a promising opportunities for the investors.
Director General of Fujairah Municipality Eng. Mohamed Saif Al Afkham, Chairman of Fujairah Natural Resources Est. spoke at the opening of the symposium welcoming the participants.
Al Afkham pointed out the vision of HH Sheikh Hamad Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, to establish Fujairah Natural Resources Est. in March 2009 to be in line with the development of the country in all sectors. Accordingly and over the past years, the Establishment opened new horizons in the field of mining investment. From this vision, this symposium was hosted. Al Afkham said that investment in mining sector in general and the field of industrial rock in particular is a long-term and a highly costing investment that requires many capabilities to ensure its continuation with high and competitive quality while maintaining a clean environment free from pollution. Industrial rocks are the main component of the fast-growing urban development that Arabian Gulf is witnessing. Industrial rocks play an important economic role in the Arab world.
